Feature and Follow

Feature and Follow Friday is a blog hop that is designed to provide some much-appreciated exposure to the bloggers participating, and to expand their following. Hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read, each of whom feature a chosen blog for the week, it's an interesting way to get to know one another.

If you would like to follow me, you can do so by GFC, Twitter or Linky (right side).

I also make sure to go back and follow everyone that comments and I try to always follow twitter along with GFC/Linky. So if you have a twitter that is not on your page for some reason leave it in the comments and I will follow you that way too!

Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is sometimes considered bad form.

This is an interesting question but I'm really not sure. I can sometimes get annoyed when there is too much dialogue or it's just rambled dialogue I suppose. Hmm I know I'm probably forgetting something where I think. Ugh that's annoying.

Hopping through. I think too much and too little dialogue is bad. Overall, I do like good use of dialouge.

I don't think I've read many books with rambly dialogue but I can see how that would be super annoying. I'm sure you'll remember your other peeves when you read other people's posts ;)

What annoys me is the cliche dialogue. I don't mind too much dialogue unless it cliche.

I get annoyed when the dialogue is illogical and pointless. Like if it is simply used to tell background or something.

Good choice, for me dialogue has to be witty and fast paced or I completely switch off! Actually, narrative has to be this way too, or that book doesn't get picked up again! I'm so damn picky ;)
Thanks for stopping by my FF'S for this week

I suppose it depends what the dialogue actually is. Sometimes it's crucial to have a lot, other times it just seems like the author/character is waffling.

Dialogues are good for understanding a character by looking at the way he/she talks, but too dialogue actually derails the story and I really hate it too. Some books would have a lot of funny dialogues, but are in no relation to the situation, and after a few more of those, I just get really annoyed. It's a book, not a play, tone down the dialogue man!

Rambling dialogue can be annoying-- especially when it feels like an info dump. Snappy, short lines of dialogue can work well for some books. New GFC follower. :)

Dialogue could make a book a winner or the lack of it may make you not even connect with the characters. I love me some good witty repartee

I love good dialogue when it's authentic. I can't stand it when dialogue is really cheesy or just downright stupid - when the character is not meant to be stupid, that is.
