The Competitors
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.
But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.
True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.
Born of Illusion by Teri Brown
Anna Van Housen is thirteen the first time she breaks her mother out of jail. By sixteen she’s street smart and savvy, assisting her mother, the renowned medium Marguerite Van Housen, in her stage show and séances, and easily navigating the underground world of magicians, mediums and mentalists in 1920’s New York City. Handcuffs and sleight of hand illusions have never been much of a challenge for Anna. The real trick is keeping her true gifts secret from her opportunistic mother, who will stop at nothing to gain her ambition of becoming the most famous medium who ever lived. But when a strange, serious young man moves into the flat downstairs, introducing her to a secret society that studies people with gifts like hers, he threatens to reveal the secrets Anna has fought so hard to keep, forcing her to face the truth about her past. Could the stories her mother has told her really be true? Could she really be the illegitimate daughter of the greatest magician of all?

My favorite part of the circus is kind of a tossup. I love both the trapeze as well as the lion tamer act.

I love the acrobats!
I really truly don't go to the circus because I'm anti-animals being in the circus, but I do love the people acts in it, I love the ones like Cirque De Soleil.
I've never been to a circus, but I would really just love to see it all; everything that the circus has to offer. :)
The acrobats maybe? I'm not sure, I've been to a circus only once in my life. I was too small to remember anything. But should I go to a circus, it would be one that does not have animals. I'm completely against using animals in a circus.
My favorite thing about the circus are the animal acts, but when there's three rings, it's hard to keep my attention on just one act and I feel as though I'm missing out on something in another ring! :)
I love the animals and acrobats :)
